Malaysia
As someone who grows up and spent my childhood there, I had the privilege to witness the change from the past to present. Strolling through the streets of Kuala Lumpur, one moment, I find myself standing in between sky scrappers, and the next moment I find myself wandering through the narrow streets with shop houses that were built in the 60s, places that stir deep nostalgic moments.
The rapid development has brought forth bold architecture, including one of the world second tallest building. In KL, one could be standing at a junction creating a layers of time or creating a street frame that has a colonial facade in the foreground, a glass tower rising behind it.
On ocassional long weekend, one could have a weekend escapes in towns such as Malacca and Penang, where streets were lined up with traditional “Peranakan” shop houses, offering a slower rhythm. One can be standing on the streets creating streets frame, whilst enjoying some local delicacies from the food stores nearby.
